Sunrise Waldorf School is currently accepting applications for a part-time Woodwork Instructor to teach the upper grades beginning in the 2025–2026 school year.

 

Founded in 1980, Sunrise is nestled on a beautiful seven-acre campus in the Cowichan Valley near Duncan, BC. Our mission is to educate and inspire students to reach their full potential through a rich and artistic Waldorf curriculum. We are seeking a caring and dynamic instructor with a passion for woodworking, Waldorf Education, and a commitment to fostering creativity, skill, and confidence in students. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit to our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, teaching, and reporting.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participation in faculty meetings and committee work

• Communication and collaboration with parents

• Supervision during recess or transitions

• Participation in school festivals, events, and performances

• Engagement in professional development and Waldorf pedagogy

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant training and experience in teaching woodwork, ideally in a Waldorf school setting

• Familiarity with, or strong interest in, Waldorf education and its pedagogical approach

• Effective classroom and behaviour management practices

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to support students of varying ages and learning styles
