French Teacher

Sunrise Waldorf School is currently accepting applications for a full-time French Teacher to teach Grades 1 through 8, beginning in the 2025–2026 school year.
Founded in 1980, Sunrise is nestled on a beautiful seven-acre campus in the Cowichan Valley near Duncan, BC. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated French teacher who brings joy, warmth, and creativity to the classroom. The ideal candidate is inspired by the developmental approach of Waldorf education and can engage students through songs, stories, conversation, games, and cultural activities in the French language. The successful candidate will teach in rotating classrooms and will be responsible for planning, teaching, assessing and reporting according to BC Ministry of Education and Child Care standards.
Additional Responsibilities:

Participation in faculty meetings and pedagogical support committees

Communication and collaboration with parents

Contribution to school festivals, events, and performances

Recess supervision duties

Professional development and ongoing study of Waldorf pedagogy
Preferred Qualifications:
-
A BC teaching certificate or eligibility to teach in an independent school setting

Proficiency in French and fluency in oral and written communication

Experience teaching French to children, preferably in Grades 1–8

Familiarity with, or interest in, Waldorf pedagogy and its approach to language learning

Strong classroom management and student engagement skills

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community

Pay Range: $37,208 to $63,804 annually depending on qualifications and experience
