Sunrise Waldorf School is currently accepting applications for a Class One Teacher starting the 2024 2025 school year. Established in 1980, the beautiful seven-acre Sunrise campus is in the Cowichan Valley, near Duncan BC. Sunrise is a full AWSNA member school and a Group One independent school under the BC Ministry of Education with a mission to educate and inspire students to reach their full potential through a rich and artistic Waldorf curriculum.
The ideal candidate will have a B.Ed, BC Teaching Certificate, Waldorf teacher training and have teaching experience in a Waldorf school. Sunrise seeks a caring and dynamic educator with positive classroom and behaviour management practices and strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to support students with a range of abilities. In addition to teaching the BC Ministry of Education and the Waldorf curriculum, other duties include:
Lesson planning and classroom preparation
staff meetings and committee work
parent meetings and communication
assessment of student progress, oral and written report writing
lunch and recess supervision
regular professional development
participation in festivals, recitals, and field trips
