Parent Teacher Conferences Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled from 2pm to 5pm on Thursday, November 2 and 8:30am to 3:30pm on Friday, November 3. See sign-up sheet for additional details. These meetings are a chance to connect with your child(ren)'s teacher and learn about their life at school, and offer an opportunity for collaboration around your student's learning. Please look out for the sign-up sheet in the entrance to school starting next week. Time slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis, but all families will have the opportunity to meet with their child's teachers. Kindergarten and Preschool will have their own sign-up forms. There will also be opportunities to meet with the specialty teachers for 15 minutes. For Mr. Lyndon and Ms. Yi, these meetings are BY APPOINTMENT, not by phone as stated in the previous Newsletter. All other specialty teachers are available on Thursday and/or Friday this week. Class 8 students will be present at their student led conferences. Please check the main sign-up sheet for more information and to reserve at time. |

Please reply to Katherine or let your teacher know if you would like a picture taken of your child on November 2. Your individual code found on the proof will access your child's picture on mylifetouch.ca and from there you can order prints and products. |

Pumpkin Path Gratitude From the Parent Association and Sunrise Waldorf School, many thanks to all the parents who contributed to a truly magical and memorable Pumpkin Path last night. These are the times that our children will look back on with wistful fondness, remembering the hilarious bakers, the scarecrow who gives out the best lollipops, or the herby scents emanating from the witch’s brew. They will also remember how old friends from years ago, disguised with Halloween enchantment, still come to experience Pumpkin Path at Sunrise, and gather to reconnect in the flickering glow of the fire, clutching mugs of warm apple cider. Maybe they will wonder how their busy parents, for days and weeks leading up to the event, prioritized creating magic, and then transformed into angels, fairies, and farmers for Halloween night. So, we are also grateful on behalf of our children who will hold a glowing piece of the joy you as parents created, and perhaps remember it as they create memories for their children, decades on. We are all nourished by the community that is strengthened through these joint events. Thank you to each Class Parent for stepping into the role of coordinating a skit for your class. Thank you to those parents, grandparents, friends, and faculty who took on roles in skits, as angels, at the fire, at the refreshment stand, delivering, donating, and making. Also a special thanks to local businesses who donated, including: Country Grocer, True Grain Bakery, Community Farm Store, Truffula and the Restore. |

Request from Reception We ask that parents remember that the office is a place of business, and the phones are not for personal use, except in cases of emergency. Please ensure that your child understands this and makes arrangements for transportation or social activities while at home. We appreciate if parents can organize their child's pick-up arrangements in advance so that office staff are not asked to deliver messages to students about these arrangements during the school day. |

Ways to Support Sunrise Country Grocer Thank you to all those who regularly submit Country Grocer receipts. It all adds up, and this earth day we were able to feed cake to the whole school with the proceeds of the Save-a-Tape program. How it works: Bring your CG receipts in the Finance Director’s cubby or with Ms. Sorina in the office. For every $1000 worth or receipts collected, we receive a $10.00 Gift Card. Peninsula Co-op We have a Co-op membership and any time you fuel up at a Co-op gas station you can also contribute to our account. Thank you to everyone who has been participating in this: last year, we received a cheque from Peninsula Coop for $796.75. How it works: Fuel up in the usual way. When prompted for a member number, enter 31160. Thats it! Bottle Depot Bring you empties to either the Fisher Road or Norcross Road bottle depots and ask to donate the proceeds to the Sunrise Waldorf School account. Decals We're selling lovely mandala stickers, designed by a Class 5 student, for $4. Purchase yours from the office or contact Katherine. Donations Did you know that Sunrise Waldorf School is a non-profit organization? When you make a donation, you are able to receive a tax-deductible charitable donation receipt. |
