Sunrise Waldorf School is currently accepting applications for a part time Physical and Health Education (PHE) teacher starting for the 23/24 school year.  Established in 1980, the beautiful seven-acre Sunrise campus is in the Cowichan Valley, near Duncan BC.  Sunrise is a full AWSNA member school and a Group One independent school under the BC Ministry of Education with a mission to educate and inspire students to reach their full potential through a rich and artistic Waldorf curriculum.    

 

The ideal candidate will have a BC Teaching Certificate, Waldorf teacher training and/or have teaching experience in a Waldorf school and teaching PHE, and experience with Spacial Dynamics movement theory. Sunrise seeks a caring and dynamic educator with positive classroom and behaviour management practices and strong interpersonal and communication skills.  The successful candidate must have the ability to support students with a range of abilities and ages. In addition to teaching the BC Ministry of Education PHE and Waldorf School Physical Education curriculum, other duties include:

 

• planning and preparation

• staff meetings and committee work

• parent meetings and communication

• assessment of student progress, oral and written report writing

• extra curricular sports offerings

• recess supervision

• regular professional development

• participation in festivals and recitals
